“ Ordered the chili cheese fries, Patty melt, and chocolate shake and all of it was incredible. The ambience very much gives classic diner/homey style and it was comforting. The staff were also super friendly and the prices weren't bad at all. Definitely coming back. ”
“ the negative reviews on this place are too obnoxious to finish reading. why do people come to the damned MOUNTAINS looking for 15 minute service and Michelin star food? who RAISED these people? i went. chili cheese omelette: among the best that i have ever had in my life. chicken fried steak: pretty up there with the best you'll have in California (Texas does em best) the gravy is really flavorful and doesnt taste like flour or conrstarch. the pork chops: wafer thin yet very VERY flavorful and seasoned the service: you know, people complained about slow service. i can agree that this wasn't really "fast food", but we got our drink order taken within 5-7 minutes and our food within 10-12 after that. my wife and i must have made the mistake of going out to eat with someone whose company we enjoyed because we were so busy enjoying talking to one another that we weren't sitting there demanding to be catered to like we are in Buckingham Palace. what do people expect? this isn't McDonalds. i eat out often and i found the service to be perfect,. perhaps when you go out to eat and don't actually want to spend time with the people who you came with, you are dying to have food slammed in front of you in 5 minutes. if that's the case, go to Denny's. we loved the food and service and prices so much that we went back a few days later. same exact experience: PERFECT. Thank You for great food! ”
“ This is the kind of restaurant that so many chains have tried to copy, and can never come close to replicating the ambience, the personality, or the quality. Doesn't matter if you order a burger, a sandwich, Ribeye and eggs, or chug a bowl of sausage gravy, they nail it every time. If they have Cinnamon Rolls, do yourself a favor and don't hesitate, these things are as enormous as they are delicious. ”
“ Red Kettle has a nostalgic, vintage diner feel that's perfect for a cold morning. The hot chocolate was fantastic and set the tone for a cozy meal. I ordered a breakfast burrito with bacon and sausage (extra protein for a small charge). It was huge, super filling, and paired well with some Tabasco since the salsa wasn't very spicy. Great service, hearty portions, and an overall solid spot in Idyllwild! ”
“ Tucked in the mountains among the trees is this cute and cozy little slice of Americana called Red Kettle restaurant. I was staying in Idyllwild and this restaurant is right in the center of the village there. I wanted to get pancakes eggs and bacon and this restaurant delivered. The buttermilk pancakes were very light fluffy full flavor. Served with a lot of butter on the side and syrup and it paired well with their freshly cooked bacon. Nothing beats sweet and savory in the morning like pancakes and bacon and coffee. The coffee was piping hot too. Our waitress was very attentive and very kind. Servers would come around and fill up our coffee. I really enjoyed my time eating here and enjoying the atmosphere of being out in the forest and the mountains. This place does give a veteran discount. My waitress had even mentioned her son was in the Navy and was a pilot so we talked a little bit about that and she thanked me for my service. so, if you're in the area stop by. you'll really enjoy a good comforting meal. ”
“ Overall food and service were solid. If you're looking for a good breakfast place that will fill you up definitely come here. It seemed to be a popular place and had lots of people waiting to get inside. The interior feels very homey. ”
“ We got to try this popular breakfast/lunch spot for the first time yesterday. We had a good experience and shall definitely return. Fabulous vintage decor, perfect for an old mountain town. Clearly, we had stepped back in time. 5-star service. Tamara was amazing. Lovely outdoor deck. We were very comfortable. I was in no rush to leave. MIMOSA Very good mimosa, generous pour. Perfect libation for a warm day. Lovely way to kick off a meal. CHEF SALAD It was a basic chef salad. Basic, fresh and well presented. 4-star dish. To elevate this dish to 5 stars they would need to find better olives than the sliced canned ones, make their own salad dressings vs. bottled. The cheese was pre-shredded cheddar, nothing special. I would not order this salad again. Dan had biscuits and gravy. His biscuits were undercooked and pasty. Gravy needed seasoning, maybe sausage. Service was great. They were very nice to us from the moment we arrived until we left. I will return but will ask questions about the food prior to ordering. My guess is they have some great options here. ”
“ This was one of the few breakfast places open when we visited Idyllwild last month in July. It had a cute storefront and decor inside, and wasn't very crowded (we were seated right away around 9:30am which was nice). The server was also very cheerful and friendly, and service was fast. Our food was decent..we ordered the French Toast Combo and Corned Beef Hash & Eggs. My husband said his French toast pieces were thinner than he thought and soggy, and didn't have much taste. I liked the corned beef hash, it was very flavorful. I also enjoyed the hash browns that came with it as a side, it was very crispy. The portions were also fairly big and the prices were reasonable. It seemed like the restaurant started filling up later so I'm glad we got there early. ”
